Art by Us Too: Juanita Barrow and Amy Patterson

After thirty plus years as art educators, Juanita Barrow and Amy Patterson are finally able to concentrate on their own art. Both are accomplished ceramic artists and Juanita is also a talented metal fabricator. Now these two women are focusing their creative efforts on two dimensional works.  Juanita and Amy are represented by the Front Porch Art Gallery on Wildwood Avenue in Columbus, Georgia.

Juanita and Amy have been friends since meeting in Athens, Georgia in 1977. Their career paths brought them back together in Harris County, Georgia in 1989. They worked together in the same school system until Amy’s retirement in 2007. When Juanita retired in 2010 they decided to get together and pursue painting professionally. Since then they have painted together several days a week; encouraging, motivating and critiquing each other just as they have done for their many students over the years.
