Dance of the Water Nymphs

Oil on Canvas

60" W x 48" H

A visit to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens in the fall was the inspiration for this painting.  I am fascinated with the reflections of the fall foliage and the waterlilies hovering over them.

ABG Cue Are Code

Oil on Canvas

40" W x 50" H

Members' Choice Award, Columbus Artists' Guild 2012 Members Exhibit

Award of Merit, 2012 Georgia National Fair

Best in Show, Art in the Armory Exhibit ,2015

While in the planning stages for this painting of one of the ponds at the Atlanta Botaniclal Gardens, I attended a training session to be a sculpture walk docent for the 2012 sculptures in the Columbus Sculpture Walk (GA).  One of the organizers was explaining that the QR codes were to be added to the bases of the works the next day.  Not being technologically savvy, I had never heard of the QR codes although I had seen those little squares on advertisements.  In my mind I visualized what she said as Cue Are code.   It struck me as humorous that even traditional art work was being integrated into the computer age.  Since my husband and I are usually the last to get any of the newest technological gadgets, I decided that my next painting would have to be a part of the 21st Century and have its own QR code.  But no black and white code.  It had to be in color!

Japanese Bridge at Giverny

Oil on Canvas
20" W x 16" H
Inspired by a visit to Monet's waterlily pond at Giverny in France, this is a view of the Japanese Bridge from the viewpoint of the bridge at the opposite end of the pond.  The greenery to the left and right of the painting is from the vine which is growing all over this walking bridge.
Commissioned work.

The beginning of my fascination for water and reflections was a visit to Monet's waterlily pond at Giverny in France.  This is one of the scenes of the Japanese Bridge as seen from the opposite side of the pond.

Standing Ovation

Oil on Canvas

24" W x 36" H

This scene from one of the ponds at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens focuses more on the vertical plants rising from the water than the lilies floating on the water which are usually my passion, thus the title.

"Standing Ovation" was juried into the 2014  National Biennial exhibit sponsored by the National League of American Pen Women and was awarded the Jean Baber Memorial Award of Merit.

The Sentinel

Oil on Canvas
40" W x 30" H
Inspired by an autumn visit to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, this waterlily bud and its reflection on the still water of the pond seemed to be standing guard over the rest of the plants.  I enjoy painting different bodies of water and the reflections of objects surrounding the water and those of plants and other objects within the water.
